The Highlands is the largest contiguous Eichler development anywhere — roughly 650 to 700-plus homes built from the mid-1950s to 1964 in the hills west of the 92/280 interchange, with designs from all three of Eichler's firms.
It is also home to the X-100, the experimental steel-framed research house Eichler built in 1956 to test ideas ahead of production. The neighborhood runs recurring home tours and maintains one of the most active Eichler communities in the state.
Hillside lots, a real community association, and scale — the Highlands is the closest thing the Eichler world has to a capital city.
